6 Questionably Useful Magic Items

  1. Soggy Bowler Hat - Immediately teleports the wearer to the closest body of water large enough to fully submerge them. Has d4+1 charges. Leave overnight in a marshy pond to replenish charges. Unfashionably green and constantly soaked.
  2. Battle Surgeon Banner - When planted, summons a grumpy battle-hardened surgeon. They randomly pick d4 wounded or recently deceased creatures within 60' of the banner. Spending one round on each patient, they restore d6 hp to them. Has d4+1 charges. Charges cannot be replenished.  Off white, torn up and stained with blood.
  3. Glove of Challenge - When thrown at a creature, you challenge them to a single combat. They cannot refuse. They set the terms (to death vs to first blood, weapons, etc.). If defeated, they'll do one thing for you. No one considers the challenge socially inappropriate. Cannot be used more than once on the same target by the same person. Made of garish purple velvet.
  4. Flowery Comb of Untangling - When swiped in a wide arc, undoes any knots and tangles in thread-like materials in 20' cone in front of the user. Has 2d6 charges. Bury in fey lands for d6 weeks to replenish the charges. Made of pale wood, intricately carved flowery ornaments.
  5. Bottle of Hardening - Any liquid placed inside the bottle for d12 days turns into oil of hardening. Oil of hardening applied to any surface (armor, shield, body) makes it extremely hard for d4 turns (generally prevents crushing and provides +1 bonus to AC). Smells of turpentine, unreadable faded label.
  6. Serpent Mask of Serenity - When targeting the wearer, foes must save vs spells or change their target. Wearer must save vs paralysis each round to act in combat. Made of wood, carved and painted to look like a pudgy happy dragon.
